Enjoy the City of Galva’s Freedom Fest 5K Run through town and country roads for the old and young at heart, and a quarter-mile fun run for kids! Awards will be given for best patriotic costume! Run& Fun in Woodhull this July!
Start the day of Woodhull Family Fun Fest running or walking in the 5K run and family walk. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. at Alwood High School. 5K racers take off at 8 a.m. and the family run begins at 9:30 a.m. Both events wind through Woodhull and the Illinois countryside. Food, water, t-shirts and trophies awarded. Special awards will go to top finishers in each event.
Family time is Forever Young Race Time!
Jordan Rahn Memorial, Forever Young, 5K/1 Mile run has over 400 runners, during Atkinson Heritage Days. The 5K begins at 8 a.m. on a flat race course through the Village of Atkinson streets. The 1K begins approximately at 9 a.m. Entries received before in advance will be entered for door prize drawings. All memorial run proceeds will benefit non-profit organizations assisting foster children.
Stay after the race and enjoy a post-race party with a beer garden and live music.
Think of it: 100 miles of trail along the historic Hennepin Canal in the heart of Illinois for a flat and fast, point-to-point ultra-marathon! The inaugural race to be run along the Hennepin Canal in Northwest Illinois will travel through Whiteside, Bureau, and Henry counties. The 100-mile solo and 100-mile relay will begin in Sterling, Illinois, and end in Colona, Illinois, at Timbrook Field. The 50-mile ultra will begin in Sterling, Illinois, and end at Lock 22 outside of Mineral, Illinois. Camping is available at the 50-mile finish line, Lock 22. Transportation from the finish line to the start line for both races will be provided race morning.
The Hennepin Hundred & 50-mile race is a 2015 Trail Runner Magazine Trophy Series race. It features 100 and 50 miles solo entries and a five-person relay team entry. The surface is pressed rock, asphalt, and dirt. A 30-hour cutoff applies for the 100-mile race. The 50-mile race has a 13-hour time limit. There are aid stations every three to seven miles. Some aid stations will be manned with nutrition and drinks; others will be unmanned with water and sports drinks. There will be plenty of places along the course for crews to see your runners. A belt buckle will be given to all 100 miles finishers. Sub 24 hour finishers will get a special belt buckle. 50-mile entrants and 100-mile relay entrants will receive a finisher medal. An artist-made trophy will go to first overall male and female winners. The age group awards will be three deep, with 10-year age spans.
Start times: 100-mile Ultra Marathon 7 a.m. Saturday to Sunday, 1 p.m. and the 50-mile Ultra Marathon 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
