Celebrate our Illinois Bicentennial!

This fun family festival has been chosen as an officially endorsed event of the Illinois Bicentennial by the Illinois Bicentennial Commission.

More Fun on 81

Illinois Route 81 begins just one mile west of Lynn Center at the junction of US Route 150, and ends 26 miles east at Kewanee after passing through Andover and Cambridge.  It’s one of two county highways that start and stop in the same county. Start your cruise from either end and travel the Henry County back roads. Enjoy the drive!

More Fun on 81 Andover ILOn Saturday, the village of Andover is the setting for family fun including games for all ages including a scavenger hunt along with an antique lawn and farm tractor show with displays.  Travel the self-guided barn quilt tour and visit the Jenny Lind Chapel and Andover Historical Museum.  Grab a bite to eat from one of the many food vendors from which to choose.  Artisans and craft vendors will be featured throughout the grounds.  An old-fashioned community supper and ice cream social will be provided for a fee.  The Orion Community Band will perform, and there will be a drawing for Cubs/Cardinals tickets.  A very special event will be part of this year’s festival –  a Bicentennial pageant of actors portraying famous persons from Illinois, Henry County, and Andover.   Two of western Illinois and eastern Iowa’s top amateur photographers, husband and wife team Woody Perkins and Joyce Paustian, will display their award-winning photos.

On Sunday, Lake Andover is the setting for breakfast at 7am, a Sunday community Andover and Cambridge worship service at 9am and the 10:30am salute to veterans. Antique and farm tractor show will be open for viewing west of the park from 8am to 4pm, don’t forget the self guided barn quilt tour dawn to dusk. Cruise on over to Andover for the final day of More Fun on 81!

Kewanee offers a plethora of self-guided activities including the History in the Paint Wall Mural Tour. Brochures are available at Heartfelt or the Amtrak Station. Inside the brochure, find the hidden treasures: each mural contains at least one hidden gem painted in the mural by the artist. Geocache Kewanee is also a fun event to do with the kids! Visit for the day to dine and shop Kewanee.
