Harness nature’s magic and ensure a bountiful summer . . . join in the Midsommar Celebration, Bishop Hill!
Midsommar a lively Swedish tradition to celebrate light and warmth of the summer solstice with music and dancing. A diverse line-up of musical performers are in store for this all-day event include Main Stage performances, a Swedish Maypole celebration, and an Old-Fashioned Barn Dance.
Main Stage performances in the village park gazebo will begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.
Beginning at 4 p.m., help decorate the Maypole with flowers and greenery in Village Park. Join the Maypole procession lead by Ernie Sandquist from the park to the Bishop Hill Colony School. Ring dance around the Maypole to the sounds of the accordion playing Swedish tunes. Enjoy refreshments provided by the VASA Lodge.
Shake a leg at the ol’ fashion barn dance!
Stay for the evening and dance the night away at the Colony School called by Ms. Gail Hintze. The Rusty Pickup String Band will play the tunes, beginning at 7 pm. Admission to the dance is $5 per person.

The back roads beckon you to this one-day country antique market featuring 60 exceptional antique dealers from eight states. You will find primitive antiques, folk art, textiles, and more! Held on the lawn of the historic Colony School, rain or shine! Live folk music will play while visiting this historic setting. Lunch stand is on premises. Bishop Hill is in south-central Henry County, just a few miles north of US Highway 34. Admission is $6.
