Hooppole Fun Day is for Everyone!

Hooppole Fun Day where every kid walks away a winner and with memories to cherish!  A vibrant kid-friendly community event!  Experience the parade of family floats, antique tractors, and bands.  Try your luck at the annual frog/toad (bring your own) jumping contest, penny scramble, diaper derby, and more!  25cent ol’ fashioned kids’ games. Fireworks at dusk.

10 a.m. Parade

11 a.m. Old Fashion Cake Walk and the 0-4 Penny Scramble

11:15 a.m. Paper Plate Toss (ages 5-13)

11:30 p.m. Frog Jumping/Toad Race (Bring your own)

Noon Diaper Derby and Foot Races (ages 0-4), Corn Hole Tournament, Bingo, Kids Pedal Pull

1:00 p.m. Rolle Bolle

1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Carnival Games

3:30 p.m. Charge for Change (ages 5-13)

4:00 p.m. Lil Mr. & Miss Hooppole Awards

6:00 p.m. Potluck Supper, bring a dish to pass everything else is provided

Three A’s –activities for all ages! Three A’s and fun are the perfect recipe for summer fun in rural America. Activities begin at 8:00 am with a 5K race winding through Woodhull and the countryside.  A family-fun run for the soon-to-be 5K runners starts at 9:30am.  The activities at the park feature water fights, a variety of games for the younger children, bingo, and, last not but least, the ALL ages (kids-19, 19-44, and 45 and up) free-throw and three-point contests. Pet the animals, get your face painted and stroll through the antique tractor show.  Enjoy a lunch of pork chops by the AlWood Lions Club, bingo in the park, and an ice cream social  sponsored by the churches of Woodhull. At 4:00 serving of a BB Rib Dinner will begin on Division Street and family entertainment until 7 p.m.  As dusk falls, put on your dancing shoes for an old-fashioned street dance. It will be fun for all; hope to see you there.

Our heritage is for everyone! A Belgian village celebration is a recipe for family fun. An introduction to the younger generation of everything Belgian. Friday evening enjoy a community gathering of supper and stay for Little Miss Flame Pageant. As dusk falls a “Movie in the Park” ends the Friday, family fun evening.

Saturday make plans to try your hand in a Belgian game called Rolle Bolle (a combination of bowling and horseshoe). Visit “Little Belgium” and taste “hutseput” ( a dish with ham, cabbage, carrots, nd potatoes) and Belgian “goodies”.  Take part in the activities held throughout the day.  Saturday kicks off with the Forever Young Run 5K/1 Mile,  fireman’s parade, bean bag tournament,  Atkinson Graffiti car show and more! Sky divers arrive to spark the evening firework display. Dance in the streets until midnight. Join in discovering our heritage this weekend.

Orion Fall Festival is a perfect ending to the summer.

Orion celebrates Labor Day weekend with a long standing tradition held in Central Park.  Friday evening begins with a pie auction, carnival rides, and arts and crafts.  The pie auction is legendary and encapsulates the best of small-town, Midwesterner living.  The fun continues Saturday with a 5K run, a parade, and lots of food and fun.  Events wrap up Sunday with a comedy act and street dances.

Orion Fall Festival

The Orion Fall Festival is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization.  Together with community organizations and volunteers, it sponsors the Orion Fall Festival every Labor Day Weekend.

Funds raised from festival activities are returned to the community which is comprised of the Orion Community Unit School District, which includes the cities of Orion, Osco, Andover and Lynn Center and their surrounding communities.  The funds serve community needs such as fire and ambulance equipment, park improvements, playground equipment, and medical needs of individuals without adequate insurance.  Since 1972, total disbursements to the community have totaled almost $725,000.

Visit historic Cambridge, Saturday afternoon and absorb the community kickoff to the holiday season. Bring the kids beginning at 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. for holiday crafts and games including how to decorate cookies, and making food for reindeer. A festive lighted parade is a must see, and Santa is in tow. Take a tour of B&B Toy Museum to view toys of past and present. Visit with Santa and share Christmas wishes, don’t forget to purchase a Christmas on the Square ornament to hand on your tree.  Enjoy downtown holiday lights, select your Christmas tree and visit local businesses for a taste of holiday spirit.    Sip hot chocolate while touring by hayrack the “Light Up” Cambridge homes. Stop in at the community hall for Trees for a Cause and view decorated trees and bid on your favorite during the silent auction.

Sunday, stock up on the Swedish Bake Sale and devour a BBQ lunch at the Cambridge Lutheran Church. Tour a select group of homes decorated for the season.  Drive on over to the high school and warm up with chili and listen to the jazz band at 5 p.m.. End the evening and attend the First Baptist Church Concert.  See you then.
