Atkinson Heritage Days @ Atkinson | Illinois | United States

Our heritage is for everyone! A Belgian village celebration is a recipe for family fun. An introduction to the younger generation of everything Belgian. Friday evening enjoy a community gathering of supper and stay for Little Miss Flame Pageant. As dusk falls a “Movie in the Park” ends the Friday, family fun evening.

Saturday make plans to try your hand in a Belgian game called Rolle Bolle (a combination of bowling and horseshoe). Visit “Little Belgium” and taste “hutseput” ( a dish with ham, cabbage, carrots, nd potatoes) and Belgian “goodies”.  Take part in the activities held throughout the day.  Saturday kicks off with the Forever Young Run 5K/1 Mile,  fireman’s parade, bean bag tournament,  Atkinson Graffiti car show and more! Sky divers arrive to spark the evening firework display. Dance in the streets until midnight. Join in discovering our heritage this weekend.

Orion Fall Festival @ Orion | Illinois | United States

Orion Fall Festival is a perfect ending to the summer.

Orion celebrates Labor Day weekend with a long standing tradition held in Central Park.  Friday evening begins with a pie auction, carnival rides, and arts and crafts.  The pie auction is legendary and encapsulates the best of small-town, Midwesterner living.  The fun continues Saturday with a 5K run, a parade, and lots of food and fun.  Events wrap up Sunday with a comedy act and street dances.

Orion Fall Festival

The Orion Fall Festival is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization.  Together with community organizations and volunteers, it sponsors the Orion Fall Festival every Labor Day Weekend.

Funds raised from festival activities are returned to the community which is comprised of the Orion Community Unit School District, which includes the cities of Orion, Osco, Andover and Lynn Center and their surrounding communities.  The funds serve community needs such as fire and ambulance equipment, park improvements, playground equipment, and medical needs of individuals without adequate insurance.  Since 1972, total disbursements to the community have totaled almost $725,000.
