Annawan Fun Days @ Howe's Park

Annawan Fun Days offer vintage flair and friendly faces!

Fun Day #1

Saturday, Howe’s Park once again is the place to be for the Annual Slow Pitch Softball Tournament. Gather the kids and head outdoors to the nature wonderland and enjoy Giant Goose Youth Day. Celebrating agriculture, the Future Farmer’s Alumni hosts the Hog Roast dinner. Kick off your sandals and dance the night away listening to regional musicians while enjoying some summer brew. Fireworks fly and boom at dusk.

Fun Day #2

Annawan IL Rolle Bolle Put your running shoes on and participate in the Carol M. Guthrie Memorial Run/Walk, where you will be greeted with a hand or knuckle wave of hello. Pre-registered participants will receive T-Shirt. Have breakfast and peruse the craft show featured at Sacred Heart Hall. Basketball enthusiasts attend or watch the three on three tournaments, learn what Rolle Bolle is during the annual competition at Howe’s Park. Head back downtown for the kid’s fun park, food, car show and antique tractor display. The Fun Day Parade is a must-see!

 

FinAnnawan Fun Day Pie Auction ish off the day at the Annawan-Alba Woman’s Club Annual Pie Auction at Howe’s Park. Enjoy a slice of pie, and purchase a pie or two to take home with you from the annual auction. Travel the back roads to Annawan, IL and partake in a rural American tradition with spirit!

The communities of Lynn Center, Cambridge, and Kewanee are joining Andover on Saturday, June 3, 2017  for More Fun on 81!

Illinois Route 81 begins just one mile west of Lynn Center at the junction of US Route 150, and ends 26 miles east at Kewanee after passing through Andover and Cambridge.  It’s one of two county highways that start and stop in the same county. Start your cruise from either end and travel the Henry County back roads. Enjoy the drive!

Peruse Lynn Center’s sales,  beginning at 8am and ending at 3pm.

More Fun on 81 Andover ILThe village of Andover is the setting for family fun including games for all ages including a scavenger hunt along with an antique lawn and farm tractor show with displays.  Travel the self-guided barn quilt tour, view a model railroad display, and visit the Jenny Lind Chapel and Andover Historical Museum.  Grab a bite to eat from one of the many food vendors from which to choose.  Artisans and craft vendors will be featured throughout the grounds.  End the evening listening to musical melodies played by the Orion Community Band.  An old-fashioned community supper and ice cream social will be provided for a fee. A very special event will be part of this year’s festival –  a celebration & grave marker dedication for Andover’s founder, the Rev. Ithamar Pillsbury, on Saturday, June 3, 2 pm, at the Andover Presbyterian Cemetery.

Henry County IL Courthouse, Cambridge IL

 

Cambridge is proud to be the county seat and will host tours of the stately Second Empire three story
Henry County courthouse.  Walk the halls and view the architecture in a guided historical tour of all three floors.  You will view oak/black walnut woodwork, some of the sixteen fireplaces, and the second floor courtroom ceiling mural featuring Cambridge, Galva, Geneseo, and Kewanee.

College Square Park in the heart of Cambridge will be filled with activities throughout the day.  A must visit is the B&B National Toy Museum, open to the public from 10am to 4pm.  At dusk, settle in for a movie at College Square Park.

Kewanee Il Painting the History Kewanee offers a plethora of self-guided activities including the History in the Paint Wall Mural Tour. Brochures are available at Heartfelt or the Amtrak Station. Inside the brochure, find the hidden treasures: each mural contains at least one hidden gem painted in the mural by the artist. Geocache Kewanee is also a fun event to do with the kids! Visit for the day to dine and shop Kewanee.

Sunday, June 4 Andover Il Aisle of Flags

Lake Andover is the setting for breakfast at 7am, a Sunday community Andover and Cambridge worship service at 9am and the 10:30am salute to veterans.  Antique and farm tractor show will be open for viewing west of the park from 8am to 4pm, don’t forget the self guided barn quilt tour dawn to dusk. Cruise on over to Andover for the final day of More Fun on 81!

More on 34 is the grandaddy of all linear yard sales, with over 100 miles of treasure hunting and bargains across five counties.  A weekend of treasure hunting in the Illinois countryside and through 18 towns.  It’s not your typical garage or yard sale.  Day trippers will find an array of items from vendors who line the streets to sell their wares with selections from antiques and collectibles to everyday things.

Inclement weather concerts will be held at the Boss Community Building, 221 West 1st Street. “Cut a Rug” on the newly installed dance floor! Music begins at 6:30 and plays until 8 p.m.

Hooppole Fun Day is for Everyone!

Hooppole Fun Day where every kid walks away a winner and with memories to cherish!  A vibrant kid-friendly community event!  Experience the parade of family floats, antique tractors, and bands.  Try your luck at the annual frog/toad (bring your own) jumping contest, penny scramble, diaper derby, and more!  25cent ol’ fashioned kids’ games. Fireworks at dusk.

11:15 a.m. Paper Plate Toss (ages 5-13)

11:30 p.m. Frog Jumping/Toad Race (Bring your own)

Rise and shine, it’s a day at Francis Park.

Start early and attend the pancake breakfast, enjoy a classic tractor drive, and over 100 tractor enthusiasts displaying their pride and joy. Wander through, looking with amazement at the cars, enjoying live entertainment, crafts and food booths, tractors, and engines of all kinds.  Tours are given of “Woodland Palace,” the home of the inventor Fred Francis. Complimentary transportation is provided beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the last bus to leave Francis Park at 3:30.  Off-site parking downtown Kewanee at Tremont and Third streets.

Kewanee firefighters and police officers serve up delicious pancakes and sausage in Francis Park Shelter from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Antique Tractor Drive begins at Burger King in Kewanee and runs along Highway 34 to the park. Vintage tractors headed on the back roads to a day of celebration begins at 8:30 a.m.  Over 100 vintage tractors will be on display during the antique tractor show. Speak with tractor owners about the tractor history and restoration efforts.

Kiddie Tractor Pull begins at 1 p.m. and registration before the event is required

Classic country music will be sung by Delbert Calhoun beginning at 10 a.m.

“Inside Out” will perform from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Enjoy the many craft booths, local concession stands, face painting booth and a petting zoo.
