STAY FOR THE DAY

If you only have one day why not spend it taking in the delights of shopping, history and a little wine tasting? Enjoy the ambiance and charm as you visit one-of-a-kind shop and historic interests.

9 am:

Start your day with breakfast at one of the local coffee houses or restaurants

10 am:

Visit the unique shops in Geneseo and stop at the Geneseo Historical Museum

1 pm:

Enjoy a leisurely lunch and taste some wine at Colona's Lavender Crest Winery in the restaurant or on the patio.

3 pm:

Meander the country back roads to historic Andover, home to the Jenny Lind Chapel and a wonderful array of National Historic Register Place museums.

4 pm:

Five miles south stop in Cambridge drive through town on their lovely Main Street visit Heritage Village Park and the Old Odd and Unusual Museum a treat for all ages! (Call ahead to let them know you will be arriving)

5 pm:

Depending which way you are heading for home stop in Alpha at Country Corner Market and pick up locally grown fruits and vegetables or head to Sunnyfield Greenhouse and Garden Center in Galva to select from a wide variety of flowers, shrubs and trees for your garden.

A WEEKEND GETAWAY

Spend the weekend in Henry County for history, adventure and fun. Gather the girls or plan a romantic getaway for two.

Day 1

As you arrive, start your day shopping call it retail therapy? Unique shopping awaits you in the community of choice. Grab lunch and picnic in one of the community parks, take time to plan your afternoon drive to one of the many eclectic and unique museums Henry County has to offer. Are you up for a suggestion? Try Kewanee's Woodland Palace at Franice Park or Hooppole's St. Mary of the Fields Shrine.

DAY 2

Enjoy breakfast at your choice lodging, and head out to enjoy and explore Bishop Hill, our "Utopia on the Prairie? A distinctive blend of Swedish and American cultures this tranquil village filled with artisans and historic museums will be an enjoyable visit. Choose from one of the four food establishments to dine for lunch. Head to the Hennepin Canal and take a walk or bike on this historic waterway or visit Johnson Sauk Trail State Park to tour Ryan's Round Barn and take a boat ride on the lake.
