After being stuck indoors for months, new guidelines are in place to allow you to take back the rest of your summer. Whether you want to step out on the trails and enjoy the scenery or set off on a peaceful canoe trip, Henry County offers many fantastic opportunities to explore the great outdoors. Best of all, you can have peace of mind knowing that all activities can take place within recommended safety and health precautions.
Relaxing on the Water
Henry County features a number of fun ways to spend time on the water as the days heat up. With opportunities for swimming, fishing, and boating, there is something for everyone to relax and enjoy some time outdoors.
Scott Family Park offers easy access to explore the Hennepin Canal or Rock River, where you can enjoy a day under the sun by venturing out with a kayak or canoe rental or kick back and move at your own speed in a paddleboat. You can also check out all that we have to offer at the Geneseo Campground, or for those itching to bait a hook again, Johnson Sauk Trail and Hennepin Canal both feature stocked bluegill, walleye, and crappie fishing.
Taking to the Trails
If some time away from home is what you need, look no further than the sprawling miles of trails that Henry County has to offer. Locations such as the Johnson Sauk Trail State Park and Hennepin Canal provide their own unique on-foot outdoor adventures that will satisfy every desire to get out of the house and explore the endless terrain Henry County offers.
Going on a simple walk or bike ride through our many hiking and bike trails is another way to step out of the house and into nature. Hiking is a fantastic way to practice safe social distancing while getting some exercise among nature. For those wanting to travel on two wheels, Adventure Cyclist Association Northern Tier Bike Trail, Hennepin Canal Parkway State Park, and the American Discovery Trail are just a few starting points to explore our 96 miles worth of surfaced bike trails.
