Drive the back roads to Bishop Hill for a memorial holiday experience Lucia Nights. As you enter the historic 19th Century village, you will be greeting with a candlelit glow of luminary-lined sidewalks and candles in the windows of shops, museums, and homes. A little snow doesn’t hurt the ambiance, either.
Lucia’s (young girls with candles) serve coffee and sweets in village museums and shops. Enjoy a chili/soup supper at the Methodist Church or dine at local eateries. Perhaps do some last minute Christmas shopping? Carolers from local high schools will be strolling the village both evenings. The event runs from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Saturday and Sunday.
Musicians will be featured at the Steeple Building and the Dairy Building. Storytelling at VASA Archives and stop by the Bishop Hill Colony School for an old-fashioned barn dance.
